Frequently Asked Questions – E-Waste Recycling Services

Here are the most common questions we get about our business and commercial e-waste recycling service in Northamptonshire. If you don’t see your question listed, feel free to contact us and we’ll be happy to help.

Compliance & Licensing

Are you fully licensed and compliant to collect and recycle e-waste?

Yes — We are registered with the Environment Agency, hold a valid Upper-Tier Waste Carrier Licence (Reg. No. CBDU516511) and a T11 exemption (EXP/CP3541YQ). This means our collections, transport and processing meet legal standards for e-waste in the UK.

Benefit note: Using us gives you peace of mind — you avoid regulatory risk, you get full documentation and your audit trail is covered.

Can you provide documentation for audits or to show compliance?

Absolutely. After each collection you’ll receive all necessary paperwork including Waste Transfer Notes, data destruction certificates (if applicable) and depending on the needs of the client, a full audit of the collected items. Use these to support your ISO certifications, GDPR requirements or internal waste audits.

Cost & Eligibility

Is there a cost for collection?

No. We offer free collection for qualifying equipment when you have 10-plus items ready. Case-by-case exceptions may apply depending on item type or location. Contact us for clarity.

Benefit note: You get professional disposal at no cost, freeing you from hidden fees or disposal headaches.

What items or quantities qualify for free collection?

Our standard threshold is 10 items of eligible electrical equipment. Items can include computers, servers, EPOS equipment etc (see full list on our Services page). We aim to be flexible — if you’re uncertain whether your items qualify, get in touch and we’ll check.

Benefit note: This threshold lets us offer free service while maintaining availability and efficiency for you.

Collection Process

How quickly can you arrange a collection?

We aim for rapid service. Once you contact us we’ll propose a convenient appointment — often within a few days or at short notice — including evenings and weekends where available.

Benefit note: Minimises disruption to your business and gives you fast resolution.

What happens to my equipment after collection?

Collected items are assessed at our UK-based facility. If they’re reusable, we refurbish them and give them a second life. If not, we responsibly dismantle them, recover valuable materials (such as printed circuit boards, copper wiring and precious metals) and recycle any remaining waste.

Benefit note: You’re assured of ethical recycling, maximised resource recovery and minimized environmental impact.

Items, Data & Security

How do you handle data-bearing equipment and data security?

We treat data security seriously. All storage media are securely wiped or physically destroyed in accordance with Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations 2013 (WEEE) and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) requirements. We can provide a formal certificate of data destruction if required.

Benefit note: Protects you from data breach risk and gives you documentation for compliance.

Are there any items you cannot accept?

Yes — while we accept a broad range of equipment, certain items (such as large flat-screen displays, certain printers, equipment containing mercury or high hazard liquids) may require an AATF (Authorised Approved Treatment Facility). We’ll always advise if any items cannot be collected under our standard free service.

Benefit note: Clear expectations from the start avoid surprises and help you plan ahead.

Service Area & Additional Info

What geographic areas do you cover?

We serve Northamptonshire and surrounding counties — including business premises and organisations Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Warwickshire, Leicestershire, Rutland and Hertfordshire.

Benefit note: You know whether you’re eligible and we’re transparent about our coverage.

How should I prepare the items ahead of collection?

Please ensure devices are stored in a safe, dry place until collection. Where possible, keep items together and labelled to help us identify and transport them efficiently. Remove any personal or sensitive items not intended for disposal. For data-bearing equipment, consider removing or backing up data in advance — though we provide secure data destruction as part of the service.

Benefit note: Proper preparation leads to faster collection and smoother service.
